Bill Twyman

Bill is a Water and Sanitation Specialist at Aguaconsult, with three years’ experience in the sector. His work primarily concerns rural water supply, with a focus on systems strengthening and different management arrangements.

While at Aguaconsult, Bill has led multiple projects that have supported NGOs such as GOAL and Welthungerhilfe as well as Rotary International to increase the sustainability of their WASH interventions. Bill has also led a research project on corruption and integrity failures in Lusaka’s urban sanitation sub-sector for the Water Integrity Network and provided research support for multi-country studies on the management and maintenance arrangements for rural water services for WaterAid and IRC. He has experience leading stakeholder consultations at the national and district levels and helped develop an innovative toolkit to support WASH practitioners apply systems strengthening approaches.

Before working for Aguaconsult, Bill completed an MA in Governance and Public Policy from the University of Sheffield and gained in-country field experience during an eight-month internship at MAPLE Consult in Accra. At Sheffield, he won the University of Sheffield’s ‘Best MA Dissertation Prize’ for his work analysing how to ensure the effective implementation of international health agreements.
