The State of WASH Financing in Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Level Assessment
In 2017, The Collaborative Africa Budget Reform Initiative (CABRI) initiated a policy dialogue on ‘Value for Money in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene’ (WASH) through a series of dialogues and country reviews. This policy brief covers what was learnt through the dialogue and reviews, and provides finance, health and WASH officials with key policy considerations for better targeted investments and financing approaches for faster progress towards national WASH objectives.
Water.org commissioned a market assessment for introducing the WaterCredit model and the potential of alternative financing channels.
This policy brief draws out the key lessons from both the reviews and concludes that the analysis shows that under certain circumstances community management of point sources can function, albeit with many challenges.
