Documentation and Assessment of Good Practices and Tools for Adopting Climate-Resilient WASH

This report is the first part of a multi-stage study and presents an analysis of the experiences and  tools and other resources adopted by NGOs that are viewed as being at the forefront of implementing  CR-WASH approaches. Subsequent stages of the study will examine barriers to adoption of CR-WASH approaches and the identification of Change Agents who may be influential in the uptake of  tools and resources more widely.

The scope of the study is intended to be limited to rural water supply but because most organizations  work across all sub-sectors, we refer to CR-WASH in this study, however the main focus is on water  supply. The aim of the document is to map practices and tools used by this group of NGOs to  incorporate climate resilience into WASH programming.

The report presents the findings of our assessment and is structured as follows:

  • Section 2 provides a brief background on CR-WASH.

  • Section 3 documents insights on CR-WASH initiatives and practices gathered from the group  of NGOs.

  • Section 4 describes the inventory, which encompasses a comprehensive mapping of the  various tools, resources, and guidance materials currently used for climate resilience.

  • Section 5 highlights the key takeaways from this stage of the study.
