Development of a detailed inception report documenting the current status of WASH for each of the five Sahel countries and opportunities for improving WASH monitoring capacity. 

Preparation of guidelines for developing sanitation policies relevant to the African context for African Ministers' Council on Water (AMCOW). They include guidelines on the process for developing sanitation policies as well as key contents of such policies: sanitation systems and services, institutional arrangements, capacity building, funding, regulation and monitoring and evaluation.

Completion of an assessment in Liberia for replicating the Ghana Digni-Loo experience. 

Test an approach for documenting and communicating systems change using three member experiences. Reccomendations on whether this approach can help members operating in different and varied contexts 

A study reviewing current approaches to implementing sanitation and hygiene programmes in challenging context. The study mapped rural sanitation approaches and guidance currently being used in the sector that aim to target those ‘hardest to reach’ populations and drew out emerging lessons to provide practical guidance.

Final roadmap for each of the five Alliance Sahel countries containing a list of priority indicators and related rational with status of current monitoring and detailed plans/activities/costs to strengthen monitoring for each indicator in the form of a short narrative 

Climate Resilient Urban Sanitation. Support to GIZ to improve the understanding of interlinkages between climate change and urban sanitation systems and its critical link to urban resilience.

Providing leadership and representation on maintenance models through a range of activities centred on providing though leadership to the SWS partnership and attending key partnership meetings

Multiple year Monitoring and Verification for UNICEF rural WASH Projects funded by DFID in nine countries.
