In July 2024, Aguaconsult, alongside the Shockwave and Osprey Foundations, conducted a hybrid workshop focused on climate resilience in rural water supply programs. The event gathered insights from NGOs, donors, and academic institutions to review findings from a comprehensive climate resilience assessment study.
The workshop aimed to share key findings on good practices and gaps in NGOs' climate-resilient WASH initiatives and introduced a draft Theory of Change (ToC) for enhancing climate resilience in rural water programming. Participants engaged in collaborative discussions to refine the ToC, emphasizing the importance of strategic vision, cross-departmental collaboration, and integrating climate considerations at all levels of WASH programming.
Key topics included the non-linear journey toward climate resilience, the need for transformational adaptation, and the role of donors in supporting long-term climate-resilient initiatives. This workshop contributes to ongoing efforts to align WASH initiatives with broader climate resilience goals.
The outputs of phase one of this study are now available and comprise of the following:
Good Practices and Tools for Climate Resilient WASH (Output 1)
Gap Analysis of Climate Resilient WASH (Output 2)
Theory of Change for Climate Resilient WASH (Output 4)
Stay tuned for further developments and resources from this on-going effort.
