Associate - Jordan

Hala Al-Hamawi is a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) specialist. She has more than four years of professional engineering experience and worked in developing and fragile states, e.g. (Syrian Refugee Camps, Jordan and Iraq). She has worked for a United Nations Agency, Intergovernmental Organisation, International Non-Profit Organisation and International Consulting Company. Her experience includes climate action, green growth and sustainable development for emergency response, post-emergency context and host communities.


Hala received an MSc Advanced Engineering Management with distinction from the University of Birmingham for her thesis on A Conceptual Framework: Sustainability of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in Post-Emergency Contexts. She was awarded Chevening Scholarship by Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. She did several pieces of research in Sustainable Water and Sanitation.

In addition to her qualification, she volunteered with Jordan River Foundation to create a better environment for Children and WANA institute to advocate for youth inclusion and data deficiency for sustainable water supply.
