
Junior Economist
Nathalia is passionate about promoting inclusive and sustainable economic development, particularly through strengthening financial systems that serve disadvantaged and rural communities. At Aguaconsult, she supports research and advisory projects focused on funding and financial instruments for WASH initiatives, exploring ways to unlock private sector engagement and develop innovative financing mechanisms for the sector. Her work combines economic analysis, policy research, and stakeholder engagement to identify practical solutions for scaling sustainable water and sanitation investments.
Before joining Aguaconsult, Nathalia worked in the financial sector in Colombia, where she led the development of a sustainability framework for a social bond issuance valued at USD 20 million. The project involved aligning internal practices with international sustainability standards and coordinating with S&P Global for a second-party opinion, showcasing her ability to connect financial innovation with social impact.
Her academic research explores the barriers to digital financial services in rural Colombia, focusing on how contextual factors shape financial inclusion. Beyond her professional work, Nathalia has also supported educational initiatives, tutoring children to promote language learning and cultural exchange.
She holds an MSc in Local Economic Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), a BA in Business Administration, and a BS in International Accounting. Nathalia is fluent in English and Spanish and has a working knowledge of French. She is driven by the belief that innovative finance can foster inclusive and locally grounded development.
